![]() ![]() In saying that, some content and comments on social media can be toxic and are beneficial to no-one, I’m really careful about who I follow and don’t want anyone elses’ negativity to enter my personal space, but every now and then someone I follow or someone who follows me sends toxicity my way.Ĥ. Without the challenging side of life we would never fully appreciate the positives. It can be negative – I get it, there are two sides to every coin, there is negative and positive and I’m good with both. One click and suddenly an hour or more has passed and I’m like – what am I even looking at and why do I have 10 items in my checkout basket? I only post & scroll on social media twice a day but even this can end up taking way more time than I would like.ģ. It’s time consuming – I like the time I spend posting content and I also enjoy the time I spend reading other people’s content but then there is this ‘social media black hole’ that I seem to find myself in. They are real and are more reflective of what my life is like, a rollercoaster of ups and downs!Ģ. Some people I follow are real and show all sides of their lives & business – the good, the challenging and the downright scary – these are people and businesses I love to follow. I am a victim of this and of course I am not posting photos of myself just out of bed with bad hair & tired eyes but social media has gone so false that some of it just isn’t interesting anymore. It’s mostly filled with here’s the best pose, in the best clothes, in the best restaurant in the best country. What I don’t love about social media (and won’t miss),ġ.It’s not real – that’s probably a bit harsh, I should say most of it isn’t real. It’s a super platform for online shopping (I really don’t need most of what I buy online but it makes me super happy!). Videos, articles, podcasts and some courses are all free, it’s hard not to learn from social media.ĥ. No matter what you want to learn, there are so many people sharing their skills and expertise for free. There is no end to what you can learn and who you can learn from on social media – FOR FREE! Social media is jam packed with experts in every field of interest. It’s a massive inspiration & learning resource. I love social media as a marketing tool and just by watching those who are excellent at marketing, I learn so much.Ĥ. Thanks to social media we can now market our skills and businesses globally. It’s a highly effective marketing tool for blogging, writing, business and brand building. As well as people I know personally, I follow Lean & business people, writers, entrepreneurs, content creators, photographers as these are my passions but thanks to social media I also follow and learn from people who are in fields of work very different to mine.ģ. It’s not who I am connected with on social media (if we are connected, I obviously like you!). Recently I found myself wanting another break from social media. In saying that, what I missed the most was interacting with the super people I am connected with and hearing what is going on in people’s lives. ![]() I loved the time I gained every day by not being on social media. Last year I took a break from social media for 8 months. ![]()
